fun in the city

主人の出張に便乗してエドモントンの義弟夫婦の家に３泊させてもらってきました。
写真は相変わらず少ないのだけれど、ジュリは彼らのペット猫２匹と子犬と思う存分遊んで、義妹が仕事から帰ってくれば、ボードゲームやカードゲーム（新しいゲームに加えて懐かしい人生ゲームも！）をたくさん一緒に遊んでもらって、すっごく楽しい休暇だったと思います。
Teachers convention was in Edmonton. Julie and I also went there to stay with Col's brother and sister-in-law for 3 nights. We had a fun time there with them. Juliett got to play with their 2 cats and puppy, she had fun. She was very excited about visiting her uncle and aunt because they played board games and card games with her. We played some fun games together(Julie liked LIFE the best), I had a great time playing games with them too. Thank you to K&L!

私ものんびり町から離れて義妹たちと過ごしたり、都会を歩いたりできて良かった。
美味しいものもたくさん食べさせてもらいました。都会ってすごい、すごい。
We were also lucky to eat some delicious food in Edmonton. We did some shopping too. :)

お肉がトロトロで、アボカドがいい感じ、おいしかった。
K&L made this delicious Mexican soup.
As soon as I tasted it, I decided to buy a slow cooker during this visit in the city.

エドモントンで人気のプレイリーヌードルに連れて行ってもらって、
ラーメンを食べました。美味。
K took us to Prairie Noodle Shop. YUM!!!!!

 カナダでもずいぶん前からラーメンブームみたいのが来ていて、義弟が通い詰めていると言うプレイリーヌードルに連れて行ってもらいました。豚肉ベースのスープ、美味しかった。でも、１杯１５ドル。ラーメンって安い、イメージなので、しゃれた店内に、おしゃれな恰好をしたお客さんがいっぱいで、一杯千五百円近くもするラーメンをすする。。。もしかしたら、すすらないのかもしれない。ヌードルをすするって、カナダではすごくお行儀悪く思われるから。とにかく、不思議な空間でした。食材をすべてアルバータ州、地元から取り寄せていると言うのが値段の高さの理由の一つだそう。あんまり乗り気でなかったジュリは私と半分こ。結局焼き豚とヌードルがおいしすぎと言ってかなり食べてました。梅干しと一緒に漬けたというゆで卵の酸味がいい感じにこってり感とバランスをとってました。
I love ramen too. Rame was(is?) a very casual meal in Japan. I remember that my mom made good ramen with lot of sauteed vegetables on top for Saturday lunches when my brother and I were elementary school students(we had half day school on Saturdays). We sometimes went to eat ramen at ramen restaurants when we go shopping or outing. My grandparents liked to order some ramen and a delivery man bicycled to their house with great balance and speed. I think it was about $5 to $7 for a big bowl. Not very stylish interior, what they had were some kinds of ramen and gyoza, sometimes fried rice, that's all. That's my impression of ramen restaurants.

義弟は「あぁ。。。日本に行って片っ端からラーメンを食べ比べしたい！」と言います。近かったら連れて行ってあげたいよ。日本のラーメンはやっぱりおいしいから。
So, it was a really different and interesting experience for me to go to such a stylish ramen restaurant, Prairie Noodle Shop. People(both staff and customers) were also stylish. I would worry about my clothes because we sip noodles that't how we eat. ;)
I heard that they used local ingredients, which is awesome, I think.

If we can travel to Japan much easier and much cheaper, I would like to take K&L to Japan. They can eat lots of different foods there, wonderful seafood, of course noodles, and some good sake too.

義弟と義妹、楽しい時間をどうもありがとう。

It was a great visit to the city, the road was very dry and nice too.
