We celebrated Juliett's okuizome today. The ceremony called okuizome is performed in hopes that the child would never have to worry about food. okuizome is held 100days after birth. Babies only pretend to eat the food in this ceremony.
I prepared red snapper, red rice, clam soup, pumpkin, and pickled radish. This is the first time for me to cook red snapper. It was so delicious. The dishes in the picture are the same plates and bowls when my parents did this for me when I was a baby.
My husband gave Juliett just a lick of each of the dishes. In another 40 days we will start giving her baby food.
