star student / lemon yellow

日本は新緑の美しいゴールデンウィークの真っ最中、でしょうか。
こちらもこんな景色ですが、一応あさってから同じ５月です。
In Japan, people are having "Golden Week" right now, it should be so green and have lots of flowers everywhere there and it must be a beautiful season of the year there. 

朝、また真っ白な景色。気温はマイナス３℃。道路は暖かいので雪が溶けてます。
ジュリは「イエス！また雪でお城が作れるよ！」って。
Well, we are also welcoming May very soon even this morning was still like this photo.
Juliett was excited when she opened the door and saw the snow, "Yes! We can make a snow fort again!". She never gets tired of snow!  

ブログを見返してみたら、去年は１０月１０日にスノースーツとスノーブーツを身につけて初登校。それからほぼ毎日のように着ているスノースーツとブーツ。
ブーツはとっくに底に穴が開いてしまって、４月に入ってからは長靴で登校中。
考えれば本当にスノースーツとブーツにお世話になっているものだなぁ。。。
毎日の登下校、休み時間はマイナス２０℃以下にならない限り外遊び、買い物に行く時もどこに行く時も。１年のうち、半分以上の日々に身につけているなんて。

長い冬の間ジュリの体を温めて寒さから守ってくれる大事なものなんだと過去の写真を見ながら思いました。
それにしてもそろそろ「お疲れさま。」と冬服入れにしまいたいけれど。。。ね。
I looked through my past blog, and found the first day that Juliett wore her new snowsuits and boots to school was October 10th last year. Wow, she has been wearing them more than half a year!
Her boots already got holes and she has been wearing rubber boots to school these days.
I thought snowsuits and snow boots were so important for our life in Canada(especially in mountains or the north). We are ready to say "thank you" to them and put them in our boxes for winter clothes.  

今日は午後に全校集会がありました。
毎月最終週に行われる集会。あんまり参加したことがないけれど、先生から電話をもらって、「ジュリを含め数人が今月のスターステューデントとして表彰されるから見に来れたら来てあげて。」とのことでした。
They had an assembly this afternoon at school, I got a phone call from Julie's teacher ahead and knew that she would be one of this month Star students and recognized, so I went to attend the assembly.

どの学年の子供たちも飛び切りの笑顔で賞状をもらっていました。
ジュリは「思いやりがあって優しくて、どんなことにも一生懸命取り組む、お友達や先生の手伝いを率先してできる」生徒、だと先生に言ってもらって嬉しそうでした。良かったね、ジュリ。
仕事の事情で毎年学校が変わっているけれど、どこに行っても彼女のいいところを見つけて褒めて伸ばしてくれる先生たち、クラスメートに恵まれて幸せだと思います。
"Juliett is a model student, kind and considerate, she works hard and she is very helpful", her teacher said.
Because of Col's job situation, we have moved every year and she had to go to different schools every year, but she is/was so lucky to meet such wonderful teachers and classmates who understand her. 

とてもいい雰囲気の集会。先生たちは黄色、緑、赤、みんな外の天気に負けないくらいの鮮やかな色の服を着ていて、子供たちも元気いっぱいで、午後も雪は降り続いていたんだけれど、そんなことを忘れてしまうような時間でした。
I noticed that teachers wore very colorful and bright outfits on and also children looked so happy and cheerful. The atmosphere made me forget about that outside was still snowing...

鮮やかな色の洋服。。。と言えば、今日元気をくれたもう一人はジェイミー。
テレビをつけたら彼の番組がやっていて、レモンを使ったお料理だったんだけれど、レモンと中のTシャツと、うしろにあるスパイスが合っていて、元気いっぱいの黄色と水色に明るい色のキッチンに見ているこっちが笑顔になりました。
Talking about bright outfit, I saw Jamie's show this morning on TV by accident. He was cooking lemon rice(maybe it wasn't rice, maybe couscous), and when he was explaining how to, I noticed that his T-shirt, lemons, and spices on the back shelf matched very nicely. Happy colours in his kitchen made me smile. :) I would love to cook in such a beautiful, colourful, and fun kitchen!

明るくてカラフルなキッチン。
よく見てみるといろいろなところにステキ食器＆ステキ道具が置いてあります。
今日はダンスクのお鍋を使っていました。私もずっと前に北欧の方がやっていたガレージセールで購入した古い茶色のダンスクのお鍋、持っています。ジェイミーのはかわいいターコイズ。とても色がきれいでいつか出会いがあったらいいなぁ。。。と願っているお鍋です。
好きなキッチン道具を使ってお料理をするのはウキウキしますね。
The pot on the oven is Dansk's. I was so lucky to get one for myself(mine is brown) at a garage sale that was held by a lady from Scandinavia. I thought the turquoise one was really beautiful too, I would like one if I have a chance to meet it in the future! ( I know it is so hard to find vintage ones, also in good condition.)  I like his kitchen , it has many interesting tools and dishes.

最近、長引く寒さに体もいい加減疲れたのか、１週間ほど咳がずっと出ています。
日本から持ってきたキャラメルやミルキーを食べて喉を潤していたのだけれど、それももうすぐ品切れ。ジェイミーのレモン色に影響を受けて、ちょうど街で買ってきておいたオーガニックレモンを３つ使ってなつかしのハチミツレモン、作りました。
Then I wanted to make something simple with lemons.
I have been coughing for a week. I almost finish eating all candies I brought from Japan... so I made "honey lemon" (lemon slices in honey). My mom made it when I was so tired after coming back from sport club activities or when I got sore throat.
After leaving it in the fridge one night, I will put some slices and the liquid in hot water and drink it, I will also eat the slices.
